Angaza Center is a tax-exempt nonprofit with a mission to improve the economic and social circumstances of young girls and boys in rural African high schools with the transformative power of technology access and essential digital literacy. We are thrilled to announce a significant milestone in 2025: the expansion of our digital literacy programs to include high schools with deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
Bridging the Digital Divide for All
The resolve to extend our services to our beneficiaries with disabilities began with a heartfelt response to the needs we’ve encountered during our numerous visits and interactions with schools and communities across the areas we serve. We have always believed that digital literacy is an indispensable life skill in our rapidly evolving world. The call to address the unique requirements of hearing-impaired students echoed resoundingly across the rural communities we serve.
Digital Literacy for Livelihood
Commitment to education is at the heart of our mission. We understand that today, digital skills are not just a tool but a key to unlocking countless opportunities to improve livelihood. For hearing-impaired students, these skills are a bridge to academic excellence, economic empowerment, and social inclusion.
Becoming a Member School is simple…
In our global quest to close the digital divide, Angaza Center extends a warm invitation to rural secondary schools in Africa, especially those with deaf or hard-of-hearing students. We are now accepting applications and recommendations for secondary schools that can benefit from our digital literacy program. If you know of a school that could benefit or are interested in applying, please visit our application link or reach out to us at contact@angazacenter.org .
Impact Hinged on Continuous Improvement
Angaza Center’s impact resonates far beyond our digital literacy programs. We take pride in our dedicated board members who provide invaluable guidance and support in achieving our vision to empower 50% of students in rural African secondary schools with digital literacy. Our dynamic student ambassadors from colleges across the United States, exemplify our commitment to nurturing the leaders of tomorrow. And, through our innovative peer-to-peer training program, volunteer high school students in the United States and around the world become leaders, change-makers, and advocates for their less fortunate peers in rural Africa.
Our device donation initiatives, in collaboration with school district partners and corporate partners in the United States and around the world, have enabled us to equip our beneficiary member schools in Africa with laptops and tablets we need to transform traditional classrooms into digital literacy hubs. These partnerships have provided vital resources to students, helping us bridging the digital divide one step at a time.
A Unified Vision
We are united by a goal to provide equal access to digital literacy. We firmly believe that technology should empower every student, regardless of their abilities, and as we embark on this journey to empower hearing-impaired students, we invite you to join us. Together, we will break down barriers, create opportunities where they don’t exist today, and pave the way for brighter futures.
We invite corporations, school districts, colleges and individuals to donate out-of-commission laptops and tablets, or in cash, to support our efforts to ensure that every student in rural African secondary schools can harness the transformative power of digital literacy for academic excellence, economic prosperity, and social inclusion.
